Joey Chestnut shatters Kobayashi's hot-dog eating record. 22-year old Chestnut ate 59 1/2 HBDs (hot dogs and buns) in 12 minutes breaking Kobayashi's old record of 53 3/4 HBDs set last year on July 4th. Chestnut also holds the world record for eating 47 grilled cheese sandwiches in ten minutes, as well as 6.25 pounds of deep fried asparagus tempura in ten minutes.
